“what’s a good way to disperse of a strong hang-over?”

This is a question that people have been asking since alcohol was first invented, and the truth is this question has many answers because for each person it can be different.

First it might help to know the cause of a hangover. Alcohol contains ethanol which can cause dehydration this dehydration promotes headaches, fatigue, and an overall feeling of blah. Because alcohol depleats your body of fluids you should aviod coffee and anything that has caffiene the next morning as this also can promote your dehydration.

A by product of fermentation is congeners which give drinks their unique tastes, aromas, and colors. Unfortunely these lovely cogeners also have a side effect of increasing the effects of a hangover. The more cogeners consumed the more likely you are to have a hangover and the effects of the hangover are apt to be worse. Dark liquers have a tendency to have more cogeners than lighter liquers.

Okay so the best cure for a hangover is obviously prevention. Eat a nice heavy meal if you plan to go out drinking this always helps. Drink plenty of fluids the day you plan to drink. Some theories believe if you have more vitamin b-12 in your system this will help prevent a hangover.

What personally helps me with a hangover is a big bottle of gatoraid, two Aleve, and a greasy meal. That always works for me. Maybe some of our readers have some cures for a hangover that work for them. We would sure love to hear them.

    Fat and Water!

Eat before you drink, of course. But most important, eat again after you drink! Hopefully something really greasy. Like a good waffle house patty melt with smothered covered and chunked hush-browns (if you live in the south). Or Roberto’s taco shop if you live in the west. Think of grease as pepto bismol. And of course drink lots of water before you go to bed. Alcohol dehydrates, so do the math. HAHA!

Fat absorbs the alcohol + water dehydrates = no hangover (worst case scenario is a bad case of farting the next day)

Keep in mind nothing will help if you drink for sport or to brag to your friends about what you drank the night before. This is for grown up-ish drinking. If there’s such thing…

Always a safe bet to eat a bit before you go to sleep, and drink a little water as well.
