He has a show that is just about as funny as can be. If you haven’t watched this show I suggest you get to it. Beer is not required because the show stands alone, but having a few cold ones while watching makes it that much all the better. Check out the interiew after the jump!

Some of my readers have never had the pleasure of seeing Havin’ A BEER with Mike how would you sum up the show for them?

The show is about a cast of misfits with Mike (a male chauvinist type guy) as the ring leader. We have “Dick Simmons” who lives his life impersonating Richard Simmons. We have Ben who is mentally challenged and has the self esteem and ambition of fortune 500 CEO. We also have a couple supporting characters; The Clogger who does crazy stunts and Wolfman who is an older pervert that always lays cheezy lines on unsuspecting women. The storylines range from strange gags to a reality style format that revolves around the characters.

How did you come up with the idea for the show?

I had just finished doing a series on TNN (now Spike) and was sitting in the editing booth drinking beer and reliving some of the stories with the editor. The editor said “this should be a show.” I can’t remember if it was him or me but one of us said “Havin’ a Beer with Mike.“ It seemed to hit a nerve and we made it happen. Our first show was shot in the cigar humidor of an ABC liquor store. We just sat there and drank beer and talked smack. Later the show evolved into what it is today. But it started as a talk format.

The show is great and always very funny… What are some of your more memorable moments?

We faked a child birth in the checkout lane of Wal Mart. I was dressed as a Doctor positioned at the register and a female friend of the show walked in wearing a pregnant suit and screamed “My water just broke.” In her stomach area, there was a baby doll stuffed in a turkey basting bag smothered in Heinz 57 sauce and rice pudding. We also put 6 feet of Jimmy Dean sausage in the bag to act as the umbilical cord. As the crowd gathered around, I proceeded to deliver the “Baby.” You should have seen the looks on the faces of the Wal Mart customers as the sausage and baby mess came out. To make things even worse, I had a friend positioned next to the delivery scene and I handed him the freshly delivered baby/doll and he wrapped it in his shirt and then bolted, stealing the new born. The mother jumped up and screamed “somebody stole my baby” and began to chase the guy with 6 feet of Jimmy Dean dragging. People were literally in shock. We have several other memorable episodes as well. Perhaps I can share those at another time. At present time, we are finishing a movie that will be out February 22nd. I’ll get you a release on that soon.

You have gotten to meet a lot of interesting people is there any one person who stands out, and why?

A lot of people come to mind but I am impressed with Hacksaw Jim Duggan. He is a cancer survivor, a good family man and one hell of an entertainer. He does our show all of the time and afterwards, he always takes the time to tell us old stories from his days in the WWF WCW and WWE. He is still with the WWE. He has a great story about “Jake the Snake” leaving his snake in the trunk of the car too long and how it froze to death stretched out next to Hacksaw’s 2×4. You have to hear him tell it to get the full value..

Is one of the shows cast really a Guiness World Record holder for clogging?

That is true. Walter Collins clogged 25 hours straight winning that title.

What is the beer patrol?

The Beer Patrol Car is a cop car that is outfitted with Yuengling logos and Havin’ a Beer with Mike logos. At first glance people think it’s a real cop car. It is a funny publicity car. It gets a lot of attention and pictures.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and one crate of beer in perfect condition, ice cold, and ready to drink washed up on shore what kind of beer would it be?

Well of course you know my answer is Yuengling. Would there be any women in this fantasy?

I thought the women would be a given, lol. I love the shirts on your site beerwithmike.com. I have been thinking of getting some made for our site… Do you think it would be ok if ours read My Yeungling was downed at BeerGoggleHell.com? That’s not a total ripoff is it? J/K

I think that would be ok. Of course I don’t control their trademark rights but I know they like positve fan attention.

You can get dvd’s of the show on beerwithmike.com too right?

Yes. Please check them out. Also, great episode descriptions at beerwithmike.com .

When can we watch the show and on what stations?

Station listings are at www.beerwithmike.com

Can anyone come watch a taping of the show and actually have a beer with you?

I have an email VIP list. You can email me at beerwithmike @ aol.com . Get a hold of me there and I’ll
get folks in for some VIP Yuengling Havin’ a Beer with Mike treatment!

I am sure you’re busy so last question… How can I, the average person, get people to give me free beer?

Man that’s a tough one. I suggest good manipulation skills. Learn a trick and if that doesn’t work, beg! Free beer is worth it!

Thanks again to Mike for taking the time to answer a few questions. You really owe it to yourselves to check out his show. You can find showtimes on beerwithmike.com along with a lot of other great information about the show.
