Lift a glass to Craft Beer Week (The Charlotte Observer)
We would sure love to be in Charlotte this week.
The inaugural Charlotte Craft Beer Week, an ambitious 11-day event, is offering about 30 tastings and dinners – and even a beer school – from March 18-28 in locations throughout the Charlotte area. The event will bring some of the nation’s best brewers to the city – along with local and N.C. brewers – to talk about their craft. It could be the finest, most diverse beer gathering Charlotte has seen… Read more about the event!

Don’t mess with Canada’s hockey or beer (Slam! Sports)
You can make fun of our politeness, our insecurities or even the weird way some of us say “out.” But don’t you dare you insult two of the things that define us best: our hockey, and our beer.
That seems to be the sentiment online, where photos of our women’s hockey team celebrating with beer, champagne and cigars after their gold medal win Thursday night have spread like wildifre. Reports of the ladies’ on-ice celebration have appeared on hundreds of news websites across the globe, from The New York Times (“A toast to hockey gold, but at what cost?”) to the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph to Cigar Aficionado (seriously).

Woman shoplifts beer – passes out in Wal-Mart bathroom

I was reading the Times Herald when I came across this. I love how someone reported, “alleged raunchiness” LOL
A Palmetto woman was charged with shoplifting a six-pack after she was found snoozing in a stall at Wal-Mart.
According to a Feb. 4 incident report, Newnan Police Officer Zachery Anderson went to the Wal-Mart store in Newnan Crossing East center on Bullsboro Drive to investigate a shoplifting report. A Wal-Mart employee told Anderson that when she went to check on some alleged raunchiness in the restroom, she discovered a female, later identified as Carrie Pierce, asleep in a stall. A carton of empty beer bottles was nestled next to her. Another partially full container of alcohol was also present.
My name is kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid!
So check this out, Kid Rock is going to have his own beer. I am not sure if I can bring myself to order one of these up, it just seems kind of cheesy. Anyway there is more, apparently a beermaker in webberville actually conned the state into giving him a tax break for creating a recipe for the new Kid Rock craft beer.
Beer in Alabama up to 13.9%
If you live or are heading to Alabama to visit you might want to be a bit careful when drinking. It appears a local grassroots organization Free the Hops will have it their way. Thanks to a lot of work on their part a senate panel approved the sale of beer containing up to 13.9% it was originally capped at 6%.
Thanks to some Scientist we may have better tasting beer soon!
This is pretty cool. Some scientists have mapped the DNA for several strains of yeast used in the brewing of beer.
Basically what this means is that brewers will be able to pick the best strains to create a more flavorful beer. I for one already love the taste of beer so I can only imagine what this will do to increase my consumption.
